Cellular and respiratory system
In this project we made chose two organ systems and they were the nervous and resperatory system. We made a model as shown below, of how these two systems bond together and how they affect us in our body.
The project
Concepts
nervous system - the network of nerve cells and fibers that transmits nerve impulses between parts of the body.
neurons - a specialized cell transmitting nerve impulses; a nerve cell.
impulses - signals sent between neurons.
brain - an organ of soft nervous tissue contained in the skull of vertebrates, functioning as the coordinating center of sensation and intellectual and nervous activity.
spinal cord - the cylindrical bundle of nerve fibers and associated tissue that is enclosed in the spine and connects nearly all parts of the body to the brain. Part of the nervous system.
nerves - provide pathways for impulses.
respiratory system - a series of organs responsible for taking in oxygen and expelling carbon dioxide.
lungs - make it so that oxygen can pass into the blood and carbon dioxide be removed.
bronchi - conducts air into the lungs. Part of the respiratory system.
alveoli - tiny air sack in the lungs. Part of the respiratory system.
trachea - conveys air to and from the lungs. Part of the respiratory system.
larynx - hollow muscular organ forming an air passage to the lungs and holding the vocal cords. Part of the respiratory system.

Reflection
In this project I learned what is the respiratory system and the nervous system. I also leaned that they help us breath and are both connected to the spinal cord. One final thing I learned was how this all affects us and why it's important to us. I had some hard times at first but in the end I understood this and we did great.
